GT 101: Characteristics of Gifted Learners and How DPS Supports all Learner Needs

Come learn about the needs of gifted and highly gifted learners. We will dispel myths about gifted education and explain how DPS gifted services are designed to meet the needs of all learners.

Rebecca McKinney, Academic Program Manager for the DPS Gifted and Talented Department, holds a Masters degree in Special Education: Gifted and Talented and has experience working with gifted learners from preschool to 11th grade. Her background also includes elementary, early childhood, and physical education. Rebecca is a Denver native who lives with her husband, two highly gifted children, and dog.

Robin Greene, a Gifted and Talented Specialist who also coordinates the Advanced Kindergarten Program, holds a Masters in Education Administration with a Gifted Focus and has been a classroom teacher and GT Coordinator, and served in Administration in TX. In her 3 years in Denver, she has worked with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade as both an HGT Teacher and a GT Itinerant teacher. She and her husband have two dogs and one cat to keep them busy and enjoy the mountain air of Colorado.
